Words of Wisdom?

Here are some funny things my kids have been saying:

1. Sam likes to use the word "actually" in just about every other sentence.
2. He also seems to think the new cool word is "Lame". Riding home from "school" the other day he was talking about how girls were lame; which is actually quite funny because his best freinds at school are a couple of girls in his class.
3. Sam ordered a corn dog at a restaurant last weekend. The stick had a really sharp end where they had skewered the hot dog onto it. Sam looked at me quite seriously and told me, "Mom, I have to be careful eating it so that I don't spear my uvula!" Yes, he likes the word uvula a lot also. Can you tell he takes after his mom in his love for words? Word Girl!
4. Max brought up again how he looks like a professional dancer or ice skater in his school uniform the other night so I started singing "Tiny Little Dancer" by Elton John as I put him to bed. I couldn't stop giggling. He has really been into roller skating lately which kind of fits the theme. He has a roller skating party tonight for a friends birthday and also next weekend for his own birthday. I think we should make sure he wears his skating outfit/school uniform for these events. What do you think?
5. Sam is really into getting his nails painted. The girls that teach his class in the afternoon at his daycare/school paint all the girl's nails about every other week. They also do Sam's. He loves it. He likes them painted green or black and calls them his monster nails. His favorite is the first day he gets them painted. He sticks them up my nose and tells me to smell them. "Are they gross and stinky?" he asks. Lovely.
6. Max comes home (Sam also to tell the truth) with the fabulous stories made up by his friends. They can't possibly be true, but he believes them...all of them. So far he hasn't figured out the art of exaggeration or confabulation. I tell him it can't really be true and he acts like I am crazy or just not so smart because I don't understand and KNOW these things. Because these things are really, really true. How early do the teenage years start? Just asking.

I keep thinking about something Max told me the other day. He said his good friend, Elijah at school thinks that they look like professional dancers since they wear their uniform shirts tucked into their pants with a belt. Their little frames actually do look like professional dancers or male ice skaters with their shirts tucked in. It made me laugh so hard. He was sooo right. I hadn't noticed it before. Now, every day I take him to school, I think about him and all his professional dancer friends at school and laugh. I Love It! I know it is silly, but I just have to giggle. It is sooo good to have an easy laugh available. I needed it!

What A Little Toot!

Today I took Sam to Zarrow International School to enroll him. All the mom's and dad's were there with their kids all dressed up to impress. The principal was speaking about the PTA and school so it was very quiet and all of a sudden I hear a LOUD explossive toot. OK, not just a toot, a FART! Sam had ripped one out, louder than I have ever heard from him...and that is saying a lot since he is quite a tooter. He is notorious for his tooting power and smell strength. He always laughs and says it was him, soooo proud. But today of all days he pretended he didn't do it and ignored my question. Soooo, the little toot let me take the fall. I was so embarrassed.

He has also been calling me into his room in the evenings when he is supposed to be sleeping, yelling, "Mama, I want Mama not Daddy. Mama!" (He knows daddy won't be happy). When I get to his room he asks me strange questions like, "Can you die from drinking pee? How much pee would it take?" or "What would happen if I squirted blood all over the room? Would it kill a fly if I squirted it with blood? How much would it take?" or "What would happen if the sky fell down on us?" Lovely, hugh? Oh the fun challenges of being a mom. They do keep me creative!

Nothing is Impossible

Today I was driving home in the car and a song came on the radio. It had a verse that said, "Impossible is not a word." Max heard it and said mom, did you hear what that song said? It said impossible is not a word. Can you believe it? I figured he was going to say it was a word, but instead he blew me away with this comment, "Mom that is just like what that verse says, Luke 1:37...Nothing is impossible with God!" I didn't know what to say, I was so emotional and amazed at his understanding. Finally I said yes, it was and how smart and wise he was to realize that. I am amazed at how much my kids do understand and take in. That verse is one of our scripture verses we have started to learn. We are going slow they only know three right now, but WOW, to see the impact is so rewarding and cool. The word of God is Powerful! Sharper than any two edged sword! I know that God grinned today. I know I was happy.

Spring Break!!!

Finally, Spring Break is here and none too soon. I have worked the last two days and get to take off for the next three. Yeah!!! My kids spent Sunday and Monday night with Mimi and Papa and their cousins too. They had a blast. I have figured out why it was sooo much fun. They got to eat as much candy as they wanted and didn't have to take any baths or brush thier teeth for two days. They were in heaven. Yikes! Oh well, it was only for a short while. I know when they go to Mimi and Papa's all rules are gone. My mom wants them to remember having fun with her and loving it at Mimi's house. I think she found the way to their heart this week. All joking aside, she has always known how to make everything fun and special. She always did this for us as a mom, when I was growing up, and still does this for me as an adult and for my kids. What greater blessing is there than a great Mom and Dad/Mimi and Papa? I and my kids are truly blessed. A big shout of thanks to you Mimi and Papa!!!! By the way, Max told me this morning (as he often does) that Mimi has the best stuff at her house and everything is more fun there. You have accomplished your goal mom. Kudos to you! Lots of love!

Crazy about Maizie

This is our new dog, Maizie. We got her on Valentines Day. The boys had already picked out her name before we even got her. She is a cute, crazy and as you can see, sometimes lazy dog. We are in love with her. She was 9 weeks old when we got her, 12 weeks now. She is a soft coated wheaten terror---Ooops! Freudian slip, I mean terrier. No, all joking aside, she is a sweet girl. Yes, We Finally Have A GIRL!!!!!!! Jason jokes that I finally got a girl. It is the only way we would get one. As you know there are no girls in our family, even cousins. If it is a Banzet it is a Boy. Well, we opted to adopt a little sweet girl to change that. I have finally evened out the testosterone in this house. Besides me, we have Maizie now and our Guinea Pig, Coco (otherwise known as Cocomo). Anyway, sorry this has taken me so long to post. Things have been busy with potty training a new puppy and corralling the kids. Oh, by the way, we just got news that Sam was accepted into Zarrow school, so he will be getting to go there with Max next Fall. I am sooo excited!!!! Go Zarrow Go! Max's Spanish gets better and better, better than mine at least. I am so impressed and proud. Well, that is our news for now.

Bad Dog

Well, we have been busy. We had to make about 100 Valentine Cards for Sam's class, Max's class, teachers, family and Max's After Care program friends. Little Sammy turned 5 today! Yeah. But it was all a little tainted with a sad outcome. Our new dog Charley has been trying to dominate Sam and a litte aggressive towards him. He nips and bites at him and bit him bad on the leg this week, running from across the room to get him out of nowhere with no reason or provocation. We talked about it and prayed about it and sent Charley back to the Humane Society. They will find him a new home that does not have any small kids. It was sad and traumatic, but it had to be done for Sam's safety and for anyone else that visits our house. He was a smart, cute and sweet dog and very protective of us. We worked with him three times a day and his behavior had improved. He knew how to consistently sit and stay on command, but we just couldn't risk Sam or anyone else getting hurt. The kids were super sad and wanted to look for another dog right away and we are going tomorrow to pick up another dog. It is a little girl puppy that is a soft coated wheaten terrier. She is soooo cute. We felt we had to go the puppy route this time so that the dog would grow up with the kids knowing them and thier position right away. Pray that this new arrival to our home is a smooth transition. I was hoping origionally for a little older dog so that it would be easier, but I guess I will be doing potty training again. I can't wait to see the little girl. The boys have already picked the name Maisy, they are sooo excited. I will post pictures when I can.
